📖 Scripture Reading — Exodus 16:4–5, 7
“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.”

In 2014, a young pastor named Daniel Raj from Chennai was leading a small slum-ministry outreach. One Saturday morning, he discovered that the sponsor who usually sent food packets had canceled last minute due to a financial emergency. Forty children were already waiting outside for their weekly meal.
With only ₹180 in his pocket, Daniel prayed, “Lord, You fed Israel in the wilderness. Feed these little ones today.”
He went to a small grocery shop, intending to buy biscuits.
The Israelites were only weeks out of Egypt, but the thrill of freedom quickly faded as hunger set in. The desert was barren, the days were scorching, and every direction looked like failure. Instead of crying out in faith, they murmured against Moses, longing for the food of Egypt—forgetting the chains that came with it.
In this tension between need and unbelief, God speaks something astonishing:
“I will rain bread from heaven for you.”
Bread doesn’t fall from the sky. It never had. Yet God promised a kind of provision that didn’t exist in their experience.But God also gave a test—gather daily, not hoarding, not storing, trusting Him fresh each morning. On the sixth day, gather double. On the seventh, rest.
And God did.
The next morning, the desert floor shone with manna—bread from heaven—daily, tender, faithful, miraculous.This was not merely provision.It was glory—the weight of God’s mercy displayed in simple, daily faithfulness.
God’s provision often comes in forms we cannot predict. Israel expected grain or livestock—but God sent bread from heaven. They thought God would answer in familiar ways—but He created a brand-new resource.
In the same way, we often look for God only in the places we have seen Him before.
We expect the familiar:
• the job that makes sense,
• the contact we know,
• the solution that looks logical.
But God is not limited by our experience.
He can create answers that don’t exist yet—opportunities that were not in our line of sight—openings we never imagined.
And like Israel, we are tested—not to fail, but to learn daily dependence.
Manna teaches us that God’s best blessings come hand-in-hand with obedience.
He rains bread—but we must gather.
He sends grace—but we must trust.
In the morning, when Israel saw manna, they also saw the glory of the Lord—not in lightning or thunder, but in quiet, consistent mercy. God still reveals His glory this way today.

As he stood in line to buy biscuits , a man tapped his shoulder.”Pastor Daniel?” Daniel nodded, surprised—he didn’t recognize him.
The man said, “God put it on my heart early this morning to bless your ministry,” and handed Daniel a small envelope. Inside was ₹4,000. Enough for full meals for all the children—and even extra to take home.
Daniel learned later that the man did not live in that area; he had taken a wrong turn while driving and ended up at that very shop.“God redirected me,” he said with tears.That morning, the children ate a full meal, and Daniel’s ministry grew in faith.He said later, “I asked for biscuits. God gave biryani. He always provides in unexpected ways.”
Just like Israel, Daniel saw the glory of the Lord—not in thunder, but in quiet, miraculous mercy.
As God’s people, we must train our hearts to trust Him even before the answers arrive.
• We look at barren ground and expect Him to send new manna.
• We choose obedience even when His provision feels unusual or unfamiliar.
• We gather today’s manna without anxiety about tomorrow.
• We learn to rest—because God never fails His people.
Just as Israel saw God’s glory in daily bread, we will see God’s glory as we depend on Him day by day.

Father, thank You that You are the God who provides in ways we never expect. Teach us to trust You before the answer appears and to gather each day’s grace with obedience. Help us see Your glory in every provision—big or small. Make our faith prophetic, resting on Your unchanging character. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
