Exodus 14:23–28
……….Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the LORD looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians. And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty…………………So the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained.

In 1956, missionary Elisabeth Elliot returned to Ecuador — the very land where her husband, Jim Elliot, and four others were speared to death by the Auca (now Huaorani) tribe. Most would have fled forever, but Elisabeth believed God was not done writing the story. She lived among the same tribe, learning their language and showing them Christ’s love.
The night was filled with panic. The Israelites, trapped between Pharaoh’s chariots and the Red Sea, felt utterly helpless. Yet, in that darkest hour, God acted. As the sea split open, they walked across dry ground, step by trembling step.
Behind them, Pharaoh’s mighty army thundered forward in pursuit — proud, confident, unstoppable. But then something changed. Scripture says, “The LORD troubled the army of the Egyptians.” Their chariots began to wobble. Wheels jammed. Horses stumbled. Chaos broke out among the ranks. They cried, “Let us flee, for the LORD fights for them!” But it was too late. At Moses’ command, the waters closed — and not one of them remained.
That moment was not just deliverance — it was final victory. The same waters that brought freedom to God’s people brought judgment to their oppressors. Israel would never again fear Pharaoh’s pursuit.
When God fights for you, no enemy can stand against you. What once seemed powerful and undefeatable can crumble in a moment when God moves. The Lord not only delivers His people — He removes the power of what once enslaved them.

Years later, the very warriors who killed her husband, Jim Elliot came to faith in Jesus — one of them even baptized Jim’s daughter, Valerie.
Like the Red Sea, what seemed like tragedy and defeat became total victory. God not only delivered Elisabeth from fear but also overthrew the hatred that had enslaved an entire people.
Many times, we still look back in fear — as if the “Egyptians” of our past might rise again: old sins, failures, addictions, or the people who once hurt us. But God wants to remind us: “Not one remained.”
When He delivers, He does it completely. He doesn’t just make a way out — He destroys what chased you. You can move forward in peace, knowing that what drowned behind you can never pursue you again.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for fighting for me when I cannot fight for myself. Remind me that my enemies — fear, guilt, and sin — are drowned in Your victory. Help me walk forward in freedom and trust. Amen.
