Move When God Says “Go”

Exodus 14:15 – “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.’”

In 1955, Brother Andrew, a young Dutch Christian, felt called by God to take Bibles behind the Iron Curtain — into Communist countries where Christianity was suppressed. Many told him it was too dangerous. He prayed earnestly for guidance but sensed God saying, “Go.”

The Israelites stood terrified at the edge of the Red Sea, their faith shaken as Pharaoh’s army closed in behind them. Moses cried out to God in desperation, expecting further instructions. But God’s response was clear — “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.”

This was a divine moment of action. God had already promised deliverance; now it was time for obedience. As Moses lifted his staff and the people stepped forward in faith, God parted the sea. The miracle did not come before they moved — it came as they moved.

Faith is not just about praying and waiting — it’s about obeying when God says, “Go forward.” Sometimes, God’s power is revealed only after we take the first step. Prayer prepares the heart, but faith activates the miracle.

Without waiting for perfect conditions, Brother Andrew packed his old blue Volkswagen Beetle with Bibles and drove toward the closed borders of Eastern Europe. Time after time, God miraculously allowed him to cross borders without inspection. His obedience and courage birthed the global ministry known as “Open Doors”, which still serves persecuted Christians today.

Brother Andrew’s story teaches that when God calls us to move, faith must replace fear — because God makes a way where there seems to be none.

When God prompts me to act — whether to share my faith, forgive someone, or take a bold step — I must not delay in fear. I will pray, listen, and then move forward in obedience, trusting that God will open the way ahead.

Lord, give me courage to obey when You say, “Go forward.” Help me not to stay stuck in fear or doubt but to trust that You are already working on my behalf. Strengthen my faith to move when You call. Amen.
