“Consecrate to Me all the firstborn … it is Mine.- Exodus 13:1-2 ”
When God brought Israel out of Egypt, His very first instruction was not about military strength, food supply, or government systems—it was about consecration. He asked them to set apart the firstborn as a constant reminder that their freedom was not earned but redeemed.
This truth reminds believers today that before anyone builds, plans, or runs ahead in life, God first asks for their heart, their first place, and their best. He does not want leftovers; He desires the first and finest.
The firstborn represented more than just a child or animal—it symbolized identity, future, and strength. By giving the firstborn back to God, Israel declared: “We are Yours. Our future is Yours. Our strength is Yours.”
In the same way, every believer’s life today is not their own. Jesus, the true Firstborn, gave Himself up for humanity (Colossians 1:18). The only reasonable response is to live as those set apart for Him.
