Exodus 12:11 – “With a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. You shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.”
Hebrews 11:28 – “By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.”
The first Passover night was not a casual dinner; it was a night of faith in action. God told His people to eat with their shoes on, staff in hand, ready to leave at a moment’s notice. They were to trust that His word of deliverance was true, even before they saw the chains of Egypt break.
Moses and Israel obeyed by faith, applying the blood of the lamb and trusting God to protect them. Hebrews reminds us that it was faith in God’s promise that kept them safe, not the ritual itself.
Lesson for us:
• Faith is not passive—it gets ready.
• Faith obeys God even when His instructions don’t make sense.
• Faith applies the blood of Christ personally, living in readiness for His return.
Just as Israel’s deliverance began the moment they trusted and obeyed, so our deliverance is real and present when we trust in Jesus, the true Passover Lamb.
Prayer:
“Lord, help me to live in readiness, with faith that trusts Your promises. Teach me to walk each day as one covered by the blood of the Lamb, waiting for Your deliverance with expectant hope. Amen.”
